Ghost in the Shell
I though this was supposed to be an adaptation. Turns out to be a bog standard modern sci-fi blockbuster.
This is so pretty, but devoid of characters. Batou is serious and grimdark. It rips off (nearly) all the set pieces from the anime.
The manga was basically ignored, ironically for a PG-13 film. For reference, here’s a small bit:
Actually an origin story, but a remake at the same time. Modern CGI, but feels less grandiose that the original anime, and that’s before knowing Production IG is like 10 nerdy guys.
