The Conjuring

Every horror film rolled into one.

You can’t talk about influences here, this is more a synthesis of the whole horror genre in a neat mass market package.

  • Puritans doing nasty shit to kids: check.
  • Possessed dolls: check.
  • Poltergeists that show up on camera: check.
  • Haunted doors: check.
  • Whispers and ironic laughs: check.
  • Possesed kids: check.

There’s even a nod to the classics, such as a flock of birds attacking people. The weakest part is at the start, the whole setup drags a bit more than I would expect.

Boils down to a bog standard plot that veers close to parody at spaces, but there is enough talent to save this from ridiculousness.

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
