The Conjuring
Every horror film rolled into one.
You can’t talk about influences here, this is more a synthesis of the whole horror genre in a neat mass market package.
- Puritans doing nasty shit to kids: check.
- Possessed dolls: check.
- Poltergeists that show up on camera: check.
- Haunted doors: check.
- Whispers and ironic laughs: check.
- Possesed kids: check.
There’s even a nod to the classics, such as a flock of birds attacking people. The weakest part is at the start, the whole setup drags a bit more than I would expect.
Boils down to a bog standard plot that veers close to parody at spaces, but there is enough talent to save this from ridiculousness.
