Heat
It’s really all about the heist(s).
The setup is all about thinking the cop is the jerk, while the robber is a nice guy (if a bit psycho, at work). No way, when push comes to shove, the cold calculating guy succumbs to revenge, dumps the girl willing to go to Fiji with him, and gets shot. While our cop saves several children from certain death.
Can’t believe the girl from the bookstore actually said she was Scots-Irish, is that an actual term American use?
This is much more cinematic than Collateral for example, and the famous shootout is just insane. Wall of Sound.
I had one of those Philips TV growing up, it still works, unlike Vincent’s marriage. Maybe he gets better.
The cast is really something. So much bit parts with future stars. Even the Nazi freak is wicked sick. Henry Rollins as right hand man to the big wig money launderer is crazy. Another role for William Fichtner where he is just a pitiful loser.
Can’t believe Vincent’s name was reused in Collateral, for the opposite character.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
