The Matrix Resurrections

A moderately entertaining affair, between the bitter lashing out at Warner Brothers for forcing their hand and making them release a fourth Matrix. To compensate, they reversed everything.

The villain is an empathic psychiatrist, not a logic machine. Morpheus is given the choice of red and blue pill, instead forcing the illusion onto others. Neo is already out and goes back into the Matrix for Trinity. Trinity saves Neo. It’s a full-on Bizarro Matrix.

This looks like the result of continuous prodding by the producers, and it shows. There are shot-for-shot references (with little references to be discovered with the pause button), direct lifts, the structure is also lifted from the first films. Just a bunch of treats for the fans.

Casting-wise, it’s basically Sense8 again. Which is a good thing!

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
