What the fuck is this, a lot of noise, screams, and darkness. Horrifying production values here. Clearly a video nasty, not many redeeming qualities here.
Leatherface is just a Darth Vader, and the owner of the gas station is Tarkin. The hitchhiker completes the living trio of nutcases terrifying our protagonists.
I was positively shocked when only the final girl remains 1 hour into the film. You know she’s the final girl because she has the larger boobs, and no bra, like all card-carrying hippies. There is literally no sexual undertones anywhere, even the couples remain positively chaste. The psycho just want to kill, not even grope their victims.
Everything about this feel miserable just to watch, I can imagine creating it. One of the guys preferred being deployed to freaking Vietnam than to shoot this.
All in all, a very very low cosmopolitrometer rating, on par with Straw Dogs. Even more shocking is seeing the budget for this crap, and the initial idea of releasing this as a PG killer flick. Yikes!
