Resident Evil: Apocalypse
The second one, a direct sequel. Mostly a retread with smaller and smaller mean scene length. There are just too damn many cuts, it’s all chopped up like confetti.
It’s not very fair to call it s retread, it is much more action packed that the last one. There’s a bunch of soldiers, a comic relief dude, and Jill Valentine, another action girl. Why introduce another character with the same role?
There is an excuse plot to have the party gather round, get to the girl, and exfiltrate her, by shooting a bunch of zombies and a lot of Umbrella goons. The surviving dude from the last time is also a super-soldier like her, but doesn’t make it to the next sequel.
Wouldn’t be a Resident Evil film without an epilogue where Mila Jovovich is in an hospital bed, naked or with scrubs, playing Leelo Dallas again. MOOLTIPASS!
For some reason, the military dude that survives is named Carlos Oliveira, a very Portuguese name, sorta like John Smith. This is completely unexplained.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
