Shutter Island
I guess Scorsese is the real monster. What’s he doing, dipping his toes into stuff he knows nothing about? Or does he direct every script that comes up to him with violence against woman?
This is sorta like Gothika, with much more green screens. Some dude in a mental institution, doesn’t know who he is, makes up some crazy story to justify his cold blood murder of his own wife. She was even crazier and drowned her three children in a pond, after burning down an apartment. The mental institution is in the titular Shutter Island, and there’s a whole kind of red herring about human experiments (future MKUltra programs, this is pre Timothy Leary). It’s all a ruse, he’s just crazy and relapses over and over again, so they will just lobotomise him. Sadface.
This is also on the writer and everyone else, but why the fuck did they had to make up shit about Dachau? Why the fuck? Everything they say is wrong: it wasn’t a death camp, it was a work camp (with adjacent crematorium, sure). When the Americans liberated it, the camp leader was a 19 year old, nominated to the post two days before, overseeing a factory with 30 thousand slave labourers. Is the truth not horrifying enough?
Finally, I hope the kids in the ends are dummies, or did DiCaprio really kissed a 10 year-old girl on camera? Isn’t she too young for him, even considering his famous taste in girlfriends? This was not Lolita.
