Looney Tunes: Back in Action
A modern Who Framed Roger Rabbit, spoofing spy films instead of film noir (includes some nods of old-school sci-fi too). Now, that’s a proper live action Looney Tunes, not that Space Jam crap.
Includes all the toons and actual actors, like Academy Award winner Brendan “The Mummy” Fraser and Steve Martin doing a nerdy Doctor Evil.
The best part is clearly when they jump from painting to painting on the “Louvre”.
The evil board room is pure Austin Powers, with that board room. The evil sidekicks include Ron Perlman, Vernon “Mad Max 2 / Commando” Wells, and a woman that should have been played by Anjelica Huston or Cher.
Joe Dante of Gremlins fame is clearly having much fun with all that background stuff the kids miss. Casting Roger Corman as a director. Daleks! Matthew Lillard being grilled by the animated Shaggy and Scooby Doo. Brendan Fraser punching himself in the face, and saying he did his own stunts.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
