Honey Don't!
Yep, half of the Coen Brothers still got it. Making every single bit part and side character count is a superpower.
It’s a small film, it ends somewhat abruptly, with so many loose ends. But it’s the journey that counts. I should have seen Drive-Away Dolls first, I guess.
Qualley does her best impression of a noir detective, and the script does the rest, it’s just good enough. Omelettes with barely any eggs in it. With a better cast, this would be incredible, but as-is, it’s just very good.
Even Charlie Day found his calling, playing absolute assholes with an heart of gold.
It’s hyper-political, the protagonist drives around with a bunch of bumper stickers with phrases like “I have a vagina, and I vote” and she outright puts it on top of a MAGA one.
There’s also Chris Evans as the evangelical pastor slash drug dealer. He is taken care by his French boss, don’t worry.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
