Marty Supreme

Supreme quality, no question about it. Gotta eat my hat, the hype was worth it. Still think One Battle After Another is better, but this is incredible.

The casting is beyond anything I have ever seen. That Odessa girl is a walking Jewish stereotype, it’s almost offensive. And of course our protagonist hates his mother!

Gwyneth Paltrow as a washed out actress, a bad actress, past her prime, being savaged in the reviews and crying about it like a little baby. I wouldn’t want to be her publicist after this.

Kevin O’Leary is an incredible bit of stunt casting, but it works like Armie Hammer in The Social Network. He can be an antagonist on both sides of the fourth wall, a complete asshole, and his character too. The talent is selling him that paddling Chalamet on camera is not a dick move, it’s for the character. Never live it down.

The mobster with the dog is Abel Ferrara, the director? What? Was Werner Herzog busy? And David Mamet was there somewhere, too? That Trumpist idiot?

There’s even a Penn Jilette cameo, the Joysey dude who hates fucking kikes. Mazel tov!

It’s not like this not political like One Battle After Another. It’s just less topical, more about diffuse political issues. That’s why I think it will win all the Oscars, it’s the safe option.
