I can see why the other did it: Josh Brolin gets to be a muted Matt from Sicario again, Guy Pierce is also in the twilight of his career, Elordi might thought he was signing up for Into The Wild. But Qualley? Baffling.
This is truly conservative to the max: restless kid longs to go away and skirt his familiar responsibilities to live his humdrum life; when he acts on it, his homeland is invaded by a flood of bad hombres with Mexican cartels vibes. They don’t actually do anything other than ululations and brandishing makeshift machetes, and never speak, there is no leader anywhere.
I guess the real way to cure his suicidal ideation is the friends they make along the way: another mirrored farmhand father and his fertile doctor daughter. The director and costume director were horny as fuck, Katniss is constantly in very low cut tops or with fully erect nipples all the time, I dread the chaffing.
There are some fakeout action scenes, but this is purely Hallmark smarm. Hell, the mandatory cannibal tribe living in luxury is there, something that have been done better in zillion other stuff, from The Last of Us, to Fallout (the games).
