This is a disposable popcorn flick, but having Jeff Bridges playing a parody of Rooster Cogburn from True Grit is pretty cool. Plus, James Hong in a bit part. Mary Louise Parker bossing Jeff Bridges around is also nice.
Ryan Reynolds is the only one that doesn’t understand the film is not supposed to be serious, so he’s just a boring audience surrogate while the other people have all the fun.
It’s an adaptation of an obscure comic book, so watch it on a Saturday afternoon, but turn your brain off just before.
