Army of Darkness
Braindead without the mommy issues.
The first Evil Dead was nothing to write home about, and the second one was a remake, this time with money, so I don’t think the fact this is the middle of a series matters. I know all I need to know in the first few lines. After that even, there’s a helpful voice-over that tells me the highlights from last time. The rest is more Evil Dead, which can be summed up as Braindead without the mommy issues.
The skeleton special effects are pretty nice, and visually there’s an inventive production design. Too bad the rest doesn’t keep up, and you get a shell of a film waiting for a script to blow life into it.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
