Paterson
Über-hipster slice of life
of a bus driver who is nice,
writes poems about his wife
and their bulldog has no lice.
There was a young man from Paterson
depressed with wife and life,
her bake sale went nuts
his notebook eaten; shucks,
what’s worse, it was never nice.
The dog should share all the blame
For turning those words into letters
She even tried to save the tatters
But it was all gone, what a shame.
The Japanese poetry buff
Searching for the town of his dreams
William Carlos Williams is tough
But apparently published reams.
He says “The empty page is a delight”,
Or some words to this effect
A new notebook is clutched tight
Returning our man to his outlet.
They like vers libre
but that is cheating
either poems rhyme
or it’s like a meeting.
