The Butterfly Effect
Got to be one of the most depressing films ever. Not only the shaggy dog stories pile up, the resolution takes the cake as one of the vilest endings ever. Not what a I expected from the directors of Final Destination films, starring Ashton Kutcher.
It’s a depressing film going from the themes alone. But the grungy cinematography aping skate videos and overall sleaze make it even worse. Calling them “niggers” in the prison is pure schlock.
Again, Amy Smart has got to be better than this. That scene when they are walking home from the diner proves it. She should have read into her diary and went back to some audition that made her lose some pivotal part somewhere.
Of course, when small teenagers go to the movies, they see Se7en, and not Dumb and Dumber.
Come the fuck on, the alternate ending is bullshit. It’s almost as dark, since he doesn’t run off after Kayleigh. A complete mood swing, out of nowhere.
Life is Strange does this much better, the interactivity really ups the ante.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
