Twilight of the Hillbillies. Goddamn preppers with their Gun worship and Government mistrust, and then the main theme is love. And out freaking nowhere, comes a Edward Cullen to tempt the protagonist and spread the seed into possible sequels that never materialise.
For a plot that has the military as the Government incarnate, literal lizard people mind controlling the populace, this is drenched in military slang and action. From the classic KIA (Killed in Action), to the obscure Section 8, woohaa. Able Bravo 6, Tango Down. Roger Over.
