Actual geeks! Not the modern nerd synonym, the anti-social obsessive, stuck on damp and grimy surroundings, leaving their lairs only to be gawked at by common folk. Pretty similar, but using opium, laudanum, and booze, rather than consuming anime and Mountain Dew; Freak Shows, instead of ComicCon.
Dressing up as Slave Leia is the equivalent of biting heads off chickens, the pinnacle of degradation.
