Good old Vicky gothic horror, with all the ingredients: ghastly blood and guts, burly men with guns powerless against evil, and last but not least, sexual proclivities which should scare any proper lady.
I this case, the sin is having a fiancé getting involved with her late lover’s brother. Most impure thoughts must have been present since the beginning of their relationship, it’s enough to drive an old landed gentry mad with rage.
Anthony Hopkins does a great irate landed gentry, Benicio del Toro is the Byronic hero, Emily Blunt a proper lady with most impure thoughts.
