Wanted
Juvenile Timur is already stylish, but this is too raw and “eastern European”. It’s not distilled into blissful and inventive visual transcendence like his next films. Angelina Jolie plays a mean ruthless Trinity.
You can thematically fit this film into Spielberg-esque explorations of daddy issues, but with extra depth. Both the protagonist and the first antagonist, the office boss lady, have major issues with their parents, big time.
All the characters in the Fraternity are crazy: our protagonist kills the guy holding him over a big crevice, Angelina Jolie is so ruthless, she sacrifices herself and the Fraternity to play by the rules, and Morgan Freeman is a goddamn assassin mastermind!
The cast is nothing to scoff at. Bonus point for having a pre-fame Chris Pratt, in one of his least raunchy roles (but still does a girl doggy-style, while chugging energy drinks).
This is actually the source for Uncharted 3’s train wreck scene, not beat-for-beat to account for interactivity, but it has all the elements.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
