Triangle of Sadness

What a rollercoaster ride of emotions. It starts of a bit too on the nose, and goes completely farcical on the Captain’s Dinner, but the island section is great. The ending freaking sucks, they can shove those damned open ended finales. High-Rise is better at this.

It’s so on the nose, there are literal quote battles between two drunken guys, the American Marxist quoting philosophers, while the Russian oligarch quoting Reagan jokes.

The first section is so weird, combining such poignant commentary about fashion and shit, with a despicable pair of unsympathetic protagonists, if not downright evil. Who am I kidding, it’s really the guy that pissed me off, big time. I get that Yaya is also part of the hateful club, but she seems aloof and ignorant, while his partner is just an asshole.

Those protagonists are inherited throughout the film, but they are not strong enough to carry the film, and the side characters who ARE strong don’t appear much.
