Chaplin
I mean, it’s a Charlie Chaplin biopic, with a lot of the actual films. That’s cheating, if you can use the final speech from The Great Dictator. I really preferred Eddie Izzard in The Cat’s Meow.
Casting Geraldine Chaplin as her own grandmother must have been weird for everyone.
This is absolutely ripped off in The Aviator, just having random famous people prancing about in the background. The cast is so massive. MOOLTIPASS!
The squeamish parts are glossed over. The whole business with impregnating an underage girl then absconding to Mexico to marry her, ooof. That’s a cancellable offence in any epoch. “You ever heard the word jailbait?” Under absolutely no circumstances you got to hand it to old Joe McCarthy and Hoover, but he was an open book.
Seriously, that speech is so good. Even remixed as chiptunes it slaps.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
