Barbarian
Oof, this is filled with twists, but it’s actually very conventional. It has themes, but they do not really gel with the movie itself until the last 30 minutes or so.
For some reason this is lumped with Hereditary as examples of Jungian Death Mother archetypes, but this is only as scary in before the cool dude gets brutally beaten.
I liked the subversion where the dude that is actually not a creep, but is very nervous talking to a girl is brutally murdered out of nowhere, while the alleged rapist is rescued and held up for a long time, before being killed too.
I give it 7/breastfeeds.
The biggest WTF moments are the credits. This is an Arnon Milchan production filmed in Bulgaria? What the hell? Can Detroit be doubled by a post-Soviet country, how the empire has fallen.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
