Father of the Bride

It’s not THAT funny, but what can you expect from a goofy Disney cash in on those comedian people they have in storage, with every single bit of edge sanded down to nubbins.

At first, I thought this has just aged poorly, but it’s a remake from the 50’s, it makes much more sense now. It’s like Flubber, or Doctor Doolittle.

Straight up, it seems like a 90 minutes long commercial for wedding stuff, mixed with hardcore consumerist propaganda up the wazoo. It’s very old school for the brazenness.

The plot itself is not better, the Electra Complex vibes are off the charts.

It’s shocking to see Diane Keaton play the role of mere loving wife, she’s no supporting character material, not with such miserable character. It’s like seeing Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters, and as almost as sexist.

I could have sworn my mother has one of those Venus de Milo clocks stupid wedding gifts, but that was already a joke in the 50’s!
