Silent Night

It’s a John Woo film, everything is extremely intense. Intense emotional scenes, intense training montages, then an intense John Wick ripoff. How the mighty have fallen.

They do succeed in doing a full feature film without dialogue (from the main character), there are single digit words talked by other people. There are even flashbacks, I really though they were going to cheat in those scenes and make him talk, but no sir, not a peep.

The “heroic” arc is not much: after his kid is killed by comically stupid gangbangers in drug wars (in the suburbs‽), he is shot in the throat and recovers helped by the lovely wife.

Alas, he cannot be helped out of the rabbit hole, goes full prepper. The training montage shows him buffing up, training with knives, pistols and long guns. He also does car stunts, with a clunker he buys afterwards.

I though the heroin junkie the bad guy keeps as a pet was Mikey Madison from Anora, but she is not, just very similar. The cop is definitively the big dick guy from X.

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
