A Travessia

Suck it, rich people! Our broke ass country did it first, with technical trickery (and three planes).

Sacadura Cabral is the leader, someone who can butter up the money people in the government. Gago Coutinho is the CTO.

The leader has a secret affair with some English woman, I guess she is already taken? He lives with his sister and her family, there’s got to be a woman to keep his dinner ready (it’s still the 1920s). The nephew idolises him, which annoys his father.

That kid is the grandfather(?) of Paulo Portas, future Defence Minister, which will be bribed by Germans to buy three submarines that have been mothballed for ages, due to a lack of parts and overall worthlessness.

The “friendly” antagonist is Sarmento de Beires, an Army brat that a few years later went literally around the world, but was then cancelled because he didn’t like the dictatorship. He survived those 40 years and was on TV for the first time in the late seventies!

Our very own Sydney Sweeney plays “herself”, the heir of some blue blood family being stunted by their conservative family. For maximum irony, the evil governess is played by someone who was on her shoes a few years ago.
