Fargo

Yah, just small town people being super competent and city slickers being buffoons. Extremely low cosmopolitrometer, but not phoney like Ben Affleck. Give all the Oscars to Frances McDormand, she deserves them.

The guy that plays her husband is not playing a freak or a nutter for once, he is just a simple country guy, who likes ice fishing and painting ducks to go on stamps. Come to think of it, is he a house husband? Is painting a job, or a hobby?

William H. Macy is great as the bumbling fool. He is way over his head with this, completely out of his depth. His loving wife and brat kid (a Coen staple, see A Serious Man) don’t deserve this, an emasculated guy all the way too chickenshit to ask for money. His final scene in the motel, wriggling like a worm, what a scumbag.

Can’t believe Bruce Campbell on the soap opera was an actual soap opera he was in! It was not a fake one.

Don’t forget to see Rumble in the Bronx for people being fed in a woodchipper one year before this was released!
