Is this… O Brother, Where Art Thou meets Carpenter’s Vampires, with just a dash of The Banshees of Inisherin? A smashing combination, another great bona-fide musical.
That big scene in the middle with Sammie’s song melding away into all the genres, swirling around with the libra-head is absolutely incredible.
It seems at first glance that making the Irish jig the devil’s work raises unfortunate implications, but the choice of music important.
The cast is great. The leads from Without Remorse and Money Monster, and a lot of familiar faces as supporting characters.
The whole thing is very beautiful, but there’s a lack of contrast, it feels like there’s a mud filter over the whole thing. Maybe it’s an IMAX thing, I saw it on a regular screen, maybe that transfer was botched, I don’t know.
