Obsession

Always bet on Blumhouse to wrap misogyny in horror films. It’s always the premise, he won’t greenlight anything that doesn’t produce wank material for perverts.

This is half social allegory, half Smile 2 toned down. Don’t go in expecting characters, or a plot, this is very basic, an initial setup followed by gruesome set pieces, with breathers between the scenes. It abused that turning-on-a-dime switcheroo, it gets predictable.

All the actors are unknown, some with familiar surnames. There’s a cameo by Andy Richter, for the trailers. The Navarrette girl is indeed hot, and she sells the first part, friendzoning the incel protagonist. But then she has to whine like a baby for so much time, and piss herself, it’s not fun anymore.

Navarette referenced Mia Goth’s performance from Pearl and Florence Pugh’s “dry-heave crying” from Midsommar

In your dreams! Those scripts are actually good.

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
