The Return
This came out years before The Odyssey and Nolan still learned nothing from it. All that alleged attention to detail, wasted on incidental crap.
Ulysses returned physically to his home, but his mind is still stuck in the war.
After moping for a while, the suitors are brutally murdered, which angers Penelope even more that her baseline quiet fury.
Telemachus catches some of that bloodthirst and beheads Antinous as he surrenders. For this ethical lapse, and since his work is done, he leaves, chasing that high of murdering people in cold blood…
Ulysses and Penelope bond again, but she is pretty pissed yet, it might take a while.
The cast is really strong, even outside the leads. There’s Jeeg Robot as Ulysses’ favourite slave.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
