Cuckoo

This is a beautiful family drama swan, stuck in a body of a mediocre horror duckling.

The main character does the opposite of peacocking, she starts off like an ostrich, always putting her head in the sand of alienating heavy metal. Her mother is went on a permanent migration, the main villain hunts her down, her father pushes her out of the nest, just as she needs that nourishing worm of care.

Grief is an albatross, strapped around her neck, like the headphones she uses to drown out intrusive thoughts. Her mother’s voice on the answering machine feels like birdsong, beautiful but preventing her from hearing important voices.

She will be covered in (mental) crude oil, it’s seems inescapable. Meeting Ed is like an updraft, but their flight is cut short, and her wings are clipped. She is back in her unnatural habitat, a broken bird.

She eventually soars like a condor, before dropping her grief from on high, shattering into little pieces. She’s got an egg to nurse!

I’m spent in terms of avian references. This is better than it should be directed by a singer and lead by a model.

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
