Men in Black

The one with the Will Smith hip-hop song over the credits.

The parallels with illegal aliens are even more evident than in the next films.

Great cast all around, even in the bit parts. Linda Fiorentino plays a damsel who is not much distressed as flummoxed. She should have stayed on for the second film.

The aliens are very strange, and contrary to the usual, the humanoids are weirder. Zany eyes, falling skin, a bizarre taste for Marlboro and booze.

This is a very fun film, that doesn’t take itself too seriously (except for Tommy Lee Jones, hilariously), but it still manages to have comically serious moments of reflection upon life’s great mysteries. Such as why were there cars with 8-track readers allowed on the streets in 1997.

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
