Red Dawn

North Korea invades California. Using HMMWV. What?

Maybe this film is about post-Trump America, where a country where people starve on a regular basis can invade the seventh economy in the world in a blitzkrieg.

In the end those discrepancies are ignored when the US Army helps them in the final push for the McGuffin that solves the war. Killing off the protagonist (and future Thor) and shifting to his worthless brother was kinda nuts.

The censorship on the film itself it’s also classic American:

  • Insurgents with IED: fine for American censors.
  • Saying “motherfucker”: nu-uh, replace it with “mother-f”.

At least it’s not Red Dawn (1984)

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
