What Happened to Monday
An European version of Snowpiercer, where the villain looks like Cypher from The Matrix until the last reveal. Maybe I’m dumb, but the philosophical stuff very muddled.
They nicked the big bad from the first 30 minutes of Snowpiercer (ersatz Thatcher politician throwing kids onto fires), but she was just a bureaucrat. Not pathetic loser enough. The main plot is ripped from Jurassic Park, life finds a way, Greta Thunberg is wrong. Seems like a more “cerebral” plot was grafted to an action film, instead of the other way around.
Noomi Rapace can carry a film and play seven different characters, no biggie, but those are too many main characters for a 2 hours film. That’s Fellowship of the Ring levels of main characters, they can’t all die on the first film.
