Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning

Nooo, Luther! He will need to hack his way out of heaven to get away with exploding in a cave.

This could use trimming about 1 hour of boring ass stupid world building with epic music and focus on the two set pieces, and they are something to behold. Cut the first Cruise talking head too, thanking me for going to a cinema. Insufferable nonsense.

The best “secret” set piece on the submarine. Starts of extremely tense, keep building that tension until he reaches the thingamabob, then is makes Inception look like a basement production, rotating the set up the wazoo IN WATER. Nolan must be gnawing his teeth all the time, thinking how to one up the Americans at their own game.

The set piece with the two biplanes is in the trailers, it’s cool, even though Cruise looks like shitting bricks all the time. It’s the same face Miles Teller did on Top Gun: Maverick, except the shoe is one the other foot. It’s mostly silent, with low sound volume and tasteful music, but when the villain loses, he shrieks like a little girl, and dies in the most undignified manner possible. Pure humiliation.

When the wind blows on his hair, he looks like Simple Jack from Tropic Thunder, and they left that in the film. Looking forward to the next film where Tom Cruise loses control of his bowels, AND THEY KEEP THAT IN THE FILM.

Angela Bassett as the president is a baller, Mace kept rising and rising, from limo driver to politician with that “bolt from god” simstim recording. There are also other cameos from other, less important people. Pom Klementieff is one of most metal names ever, not sure why she only speaks French, and everyone understands her. What’s this, Ocean’s Eleven?

This film goes all in on DEI and acknowledges Israel has nukes, incredible. And it’s not something in the Ryanverse, part of the themes, this is basically a flag in a slideshow. Larry Ellison’s kid and the Scientology dude are to the left of the Democratic Party.
