American Psycho II: All American Girl
What the fuck is this, with Mila Kunis as a baby, and Shatner as a professor fucking a student? But PG-13, and comedy music all over (or nu-metal, equally inappropriate).
There’s a preposterous amount of voice over. The only connection with American Psycho is that as a child, her babysitter took her to a date with Patrick Bateman, and as the babysitter was bleeding out, our protagonist killed him with an ice pick.
There’s so much wrong with all this scene, but the worst is the cheery comedy music.
She then goes to college, into some expensive school that fast-tracks them into FBI profilers, but only if the teacher lets them into the extra-curriculars. The Teacher’s Assistant is the coveted position, it’s narrowed down to four people.
But our protagonist, the alleged serial killer hunter, needs to serially kill some people first, so she gets a government job. The first is the college administrative, a cat lady that refused her application.
There’s the rich idiot. Someone who got daddy to fund a building, so he can party hard. Our protagonist seduces him by accepting a dinner invitation, then pops out for a condom and strangles him with it.
The protagonist’s friend is fucking the teacher, so she is in the running too. Our protagonist convinces her to get a bottle of wine in her room, then hangs her from her non-existing roof beams, they live in some shitty dorm.
As a side-quest, our protagonist also flirts with her psychiatrist, who rats her out to the teacher.
There’s the black guy who is also putting the work, he is disposed of with the same ice pick, in broad day light, in the library.
The teacher finds her sugar daughter hanged, so he gets spooked. Our protagonist is so scared of this, she puts on the dead girl’s clothes and jewellery, and goes to him, starts massaging his back and ego, then lays it thick, until the teacher falls off a window, high on Valium.
I would like to emphasise, all this PG-13 killing is done with comedy music in the background. It’s insane. This seems similar to The Last Seduction, but the music ruins it. It turns into The Perfect Score.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
