What the actual fuck is this? A Predator, Alien, Godzilla parody shot like a Marvel balls to the wall action film, where the monsters are a poignant family, with drama? The Host meets Silmido.

It’s closer to an entire season of a TV show. Starts with a kind of soft horror comedy, action sequence in the city, long action scene in the woods, alien autopsy, action scene in the highway. It’s very long, but there’s barely any padding.

The Silmido comparison is not innocent, it’s that mix of extreme overacting, über drama, diarrhoea jokes, explosions, and bombastic music that makes Hans Zimmer sound like like Philip Glass.

Fassbender and Alicia Vikander are prominently featured in the posters, but it’s a Groot situation, they talk for a few seconds, maybe with mocap. Even that melodrama is insane. For more weirdness, the lead from Bones and All is one of the other aliens!

The rest of the cast is great. The scene parodying Godzilla, with the old man telling the harrowing tale of his close encounter of the third kind involves number two. Yes, besides the whole tangent about spicy pork, he need to keep his mouth shut and his ass plugged, but he switches the hands around at some point. Gojira, gojira…
