Sorry, Baby

This is the purest form of personal film, almost like poetry. The director, writer, lead actor, and all around driver of the whole thing. It never even leaves their perspective.

It’s not a #MeToo story per-se, just an actual rape that went “well”, if you can say that. They didn’t even press charges, the teacher was evil, but prison is not the way to solve it. That answers the perennial right wing meme of what would happen if a prison abolitionist was raped personally.

The formerly married teacher with a child just went away, and the protagonist tries to rebuild their life. The emotional core are the monologues, with the cat, on jury duty, with the husband from Fargo, and with the baby.

Yeah, not her baby, the one her friend had when she met a loving woman that married her and moved to New York. Other friends moved away as well, but not our protagonist, and the other asshole “friend”, who casually tells them she fucked the teacher to, on purpose, as a way to go further in her career, but he did not give her the time of day.

The doctor is not very empathic, he is very blunt about the whole thing, scolds our protagonist for all their actions, it’s not a great experience.

The friend with benefits next door tries to upgrade their relationship, but our protagonist is not ready to make that jump. Three years is a lot of time, but it’s not enough to fully process all that happened.

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
