The Hot Box
This is a more plump version of Black Mama White Mama, there’s a boatload of titillation, but there is also some skinny political meat in these bones. It’s not just softcore T&A.
Starts of with a back and forth between some rural kid who has an accident and does, while another kids has access to the best care possible in the elite hospital in the capital.
The nurses have some R&R when they are kidnapped by some almost rapist dudes, who turn them over to the revolutionary group. Ok, Fidel, what’s his deal?
Not much, they don’t even have much popular support, they have a couple guns, some deserters, some college boys, and a lot of spunk.
They kidnap the nurses not to serve as comfort women, but to provide medical care. They don’t have supplies, and raiding a local club nets them nothing.
They have to attack a more central outpost, and some revolutionaries die, but they get the goods. One of the leaders expresses some reservations, so they trick him to desert with them.
Alas, it was a double ruse. The journalist that was going to publicise their cause is none other than the army chief in disguise, and the deserter that sprang them was a traitor, after his family was threatened. It was OK, they can escape and warn the revolution.
There is a big battle by a river, and the army is routed, the revolution is successful!
For now, at least. One of the girls stays back, she was quickly turned into a leftist guerrilla girl, Patty Hearst-style.
In between all this there’s always a lot of loose fitting clothes, gratuitous toplessness, outright “sex” scenes, if you can call them that. Fidel and the class traitor black girl even have a quick spat turning into hot steamy fucking right then and there.
The girl that stayed back appeared on Black Mama White Mama as well.
What do you mean, Jonathan “The Silence of the Lambs” Demme was the second unit in this? What the hell.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
