Apollo 13
CapCom, you shut up now because I’m talking here. Utter generic Ron Howard schmaltz about a better story than this film represents.
Just skip this, listen to 13 Minutes to The Moon Season 2 instead, or browse Apollo 13 in Real Time.
The source material is really great, the way everyone worked together to save the Apollo 13 astronauts is amazing. Even the Soviet Union offered to help with the recovery. And they just did it! All ended well.
The film is not that. Just a series os vignettes ripped from the book, and pointless drama peppering the thing, complete with making people villains for no reason. There are no villains, only some guy that dropped the oxygen container and that information has not reached the proper decision makers. PvE, I’m sure egos were not that important.
If Apollo 11 is Saving Private Ryan, this is A Bridge Too Far.
This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
