Scary Movie II
This has larger budget, so they have more “real” washout actors, besides the usual cast. Don’t worry, the poop jokes are safe. The people that died in the last film are back too, fuck continuity, this is like The Simpsons if every episode was a Treehouse of Horror.
Veronica Cartwright and James Woods right at the start (with a cameo by Andy Richter, of Conan fame). Tim Curry, David X Cohen. The butler is that camera guy from Groundhog Day.
The “Hell House” is that house from Rocky Horror Picture Show, or Murder by Death. The map shows it near Elm Street, Camp Crystal Lake, Blair Woods and Amityville.
They have to mine the older stuff, so we are abandoning topical subjects, they go for the classics without watching them. The Exorcist, Friday the 13th. There’s also the random references, like Raging Bull, Dirty Harry, John Woo films, Charlie’s Angels (with “Smack My Bitch Up” on the soundtrack).
I’m pretty sure that basketball scene is from a commercial.
There are still some great individual jokes.
- A statue of Thomas Jefferson and his children with curly hair with a quote “Once you go Black, you never come back” still bangs.
- There’s a blue cum-stained dress that belonged to a woman that “used to entertain the president of the United States”.
- A bunch of paper ashes labelled “Florida - Dade County ballots”.
It’s still almost all bad jokes. They got Veronica Cartwright and the ending is a ripoff from Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but it’s not a direct reference, just a repeated joke from the last time. Like the explosive cum.
How can James Woods from this to a literal Trumpist nutter? He literally uses the scriptures for a poop joke.
