Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning
Jesus fucking Christ, this barely has any Van Damme or Dolph Lundgren in it, but has maybe over a minute of a strobing full screen white light. Should have trigger warnings. It’s also too porn-adjacent, both the violence and the old fashioned kind, usually mixed together.
This is actually one of hundreds of Scott Adkins films, rebranded as Universal Soldier sequels. Think John Wick, if it had more screaming, was more brutal, more gory, and with even less emoting.
I know they were trying to go for Jacob’s Ladder, but they lack the raw materials in the acting department. Vam Damme is the same cypher as ever, Dolph can ham it up as Kurtz mixed with the preacher from Johnny Mnemonic, and Scott Adkins’ acting chops are in the ballpark of his co-leads. Literally all women are in the flesh selling business, or are horny nurses, plus the family that lasts mere minutes.
They also LOOVE the pussy, I mean, first person sequences, like Hardcore Henry.
