EuroTrip

Holy shit, this is so 90’s teenage “comedy”. And so American, the come to generic “Europe” with green screens on exterior scenes.

The raunchiness is expected (more prude than Porky’s), but the amount of casual homophobia is off the charts. It’s still better than Hostel in every way possible…

Since this is a Dreamworks gig (Spielberg also funds dross), produced by Ivan “Ghostbusters” Reitman (but the credit takes only a second, you can almost see the shame), there’s a map with red lines, like Indiana Jones. Not just that, there is even a monkey playing little drums too. Gotta please the boss.

But then you have that kid painting a moustache on himself, goosestepping and saluting like Romans. What the Heil?

Joanna Lumley, a fucking Bond girl, has her scenes relegated to the credits. So much was cut out, and it was not enough.

Matt Damon is a kind of grunge and bald Danzig. Basically a cameo. Vinnie Jones, expelled from professional football for aggravated aggression, plays a generic Manchester United hooligan, in London’s Southbank. HA, fits like basketball fan in the Hamptons.

There is basically one worthy scene: the “fight” with the mime robot is interesting. That’s the least bad I can say about all this.

This is my place for ramblings about sequences of images that exploit the human visual limitation know as persistence of vision.
